Client Brief & Objectives

A client approached me with an ambitious vision: to develop a comprehensive SEO analysis and reporting platform, "SEO Spectator." The core objective was to create a robust tool capable of performing in-depth technical SEO audits, on-page analysis, and competitor benchmarking. Key features required included a custom crawler to detect critical issues like 4xx/5xx errors, broken links, and orphaned pages, alongside assessments of mobile responsiveness and site speed. The platform also needed to validate XML sitemaps, analyze meta tags and header hierarchies, and perform basic duplicate content detection. For competitive insights, it was crucial to integrate domain authority comparisons and keyword overlap analysis. Finally, the system needed to generate detailed PDF/HTML reports with severity scores and present all audit results and recommendations through an intuitive React.js dashboard. The client emphasized prioritizing free APIs initially to manage costs, focusing on scalability, and excluding localization for the Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

Process & Execution

To meet these complex requirements, I architected and developed the SEO Spectator platform using a modern and scalable technical stack. The frontend was meticulously crafted with Next.js to deliver a fast, responsive, and user-friendly dashboard, enhanced by Material-UI for a polished user interface. For the backend, I leveraged Supabase for robust data management, providing a powerful and flexible database solution.

The platform's core functionality was powered by a sophisticated crawler, designed to systematically identify technical SEO issues. This crawler integrated seamlessly with several Google APIs: Google PageSpeed Insights API was utilized to accurately measure critical site speed metrics like Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and First Input Delay (FID), while the Google Mobile-Friendly Test API ensured precise evaluation of mobile responsiveness. For advanced AI-driven insights and analysis, Gemini APIs were integrated, enhancing the platform's ability to process and interpret complex SEO data. The entire infrastructure was designed for scalability, with considerations for large crawls and efficient data handling, including caching mechanisms for API call optimization. This comprehensive development process, involving extensive coding and numerous revisions to ensure precision and performance, spanned approximately two months.
